Are you looking for piano lessons? Is the piano student beginning, intermediate or advanced? You’ve come to the right place! I have years of experiance teaching all styles of piano playing from classical and jazz to blues, rock and pop.
My beginning piano students start with engaging piano lesson books covering the basics including keyboard technique and music theory. Additionaly, we include sheet music selected according to the student’s level and taste. Many of my piano students learn to create their own arrangements of pop tunes, improvise jazz and accompany vocalists and soloists. Weekly piano practice assignments are spelled out clearly on a Google sheet shared with the student and/or caregiver so that we are all on the same page. I teach piano lessons from my home studio less than a half mile from downtown Scarsdale and/or remotely using Google Meet, Zoom or Skype.
Please contact me if you would like to chat about my approach to Piano lessons. We can schedule a free remote trial piano lesson or in person.
Practice Tips for Beginners:
- Practice 5 to 7 times a week, 15-45 minutes each time.
- Sit up straight with your feet on the floor.
- Look over the piece: notice the intervals, chords and patterns.
- Pencil in the first note name and finger number of each phrase.
- Keep knuckles bent.
- Repeat each phrase 5 times in a row perfectly.
- Look at the sheet music, not your hands when possible.
- Start off slowly, count off with a steady beat and gradually increase the speed with each repetition.
- When ready, memorize the correct notes, not the wrong ones!
- Listen and Enjoy!
