About Me

I’ve been teaching piano to all ages in Scarsdale, Edgemont, Larchmont, Mamaroneck, New Rochelle and Manhattan for decades. I have a diverse musical background which makes me a great teacher for someone who wants to study all styles including Classical, Pop, Rock, Jazz, Blues, Ragtime, etc. Having studied at the Mannes College of Music in Manhattan (now part of the New School) I have a deep background in music theory and composition which adds to the depth of the lessons. Some of my students say they don’t just have ‘piano’ lessons with me, they have ‘music’ lessons!

In addition to teaching private piano lessons, I have been a staff member of the Scarsdale Public School’s performing arts department where I provide piano accompaniment to elementary choruses and string orchestras. I have worked with music staff in all 7 schools (K-12) and currently at Fox Meadow (where my 3 children attended), Quaker Ridge, Edgewood and Greenacres schools.

I’m often asked if I would teach in the student’s home. I teach in my home studio, only 4 minutes from downtown Scarsdale. I find it a more robust music experience for my students, free from household distractions (dogs barking, sibling chatter…). My studio is filled with instruments of all shapes and sizes (piano, keyboards, guitars, accordion, mandolin…) to demonstrate the larger world of music. I have a vast sheet music library here and never run out of fun and challenging selections from a wide range of genres.

I also teach music lessons remotely via Zoom, Google Meet or Skype and many of my students choose a random hybrid schedule based on their convenience. Many parents and caregivers drop their children off for the piano lesson and go shopping in downtown Scarsdale. Ask any of my students, one of the biggist draws here is feeding the goldfish in our pond!
